Mars Globe Prototype

The NASA space probe Mars Global Surveyor circles planet Mars since 1999 and sent back fascinating images and topographic data.

The data was used to create a complex 3-dimensional globe of the planet Mars featuring a topographic map of the surface. Marked on the map are the landing sites of all probes that landed on the surface of Mars.

The Mars topography was engraved using a special relief-technique. Afterwards the segments were sown together and placed on a support structure.
